Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Middletown Residents Directory collects, how that small amount of information is handled, and the choices available to you. The service is a reference to public rolls and historical collections in Middletown, Connecticut. It does not require an account or keep a resident record about a visitor.

Information You Send

A name, phone number, or address entered into a search form is sent to the third-party provider that supplies the result. Middletown Residents Directory does not keep a copy of those search entries on its own servers. If you contact us, we receive the message and details you choose to include, then use them to respond.

Routine Technical Logs

Our hosting service may record ordinary technical details such as an IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and access times. We use those details in aggregate to maintain the service and understand which resources are useful. Cookies or similar tools may support basic analytics and, when applicable, advertising measurement.

How Information Is Used

Technical and contact information may be used to operate the pages, troubleshoot errors, measure traffic, and improve the reference material. We do not sell visitor lists or create individual user profiles from this information.

Links Beyond This Reference

The pages link to Middletown and Connecticut records portals, Russell Library collections, archives, and third-party search tools. Once you leave these pages, the outside provider's privacy policy controls what you submit there. Sponsored results are supplied by a third party and follow that provider's practices.

Who May Process It

Hosting and technical service providers may process the server-log information needed to keep the pages running. Analytics and advertising partners may receive the automatic information described above. We disclose information when valid legal process requires it, and otherwise do not provide it to another party.

Security and Retention

The service uses an encrypted connection, and logs are retained only while they serve the purposes described above. There are no user accounts here, so Middletown Residents Directory does not hold a password or account profile for you.

Visitors Under 18

This service is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a minor has sent information to us, contact us so it can be deleted.

Your Connecticut Privacy Choices

The Connecticut Data Privacy Act, chapter 743jj, took effect July 1, 2023. For covered processing, qualifying consumers may have rights to access, correct, delete, port, or opt out of certain uses of personal data. The Attorney General identifies January 1, 2025 as the start of universal opt-out signals. The law also excludes or limits government entities, publicly available information, many public records, and records controlled by another statute.

Public Act 26-64 has prospective implementation dates of October 1, 2026 and January 1, 2027 as of this August 2026 policy, so those dates are future dates rather than current site practices. Because this service keeps very little, a request through Contact Us normally means checking the contact mailbox and available server logs. Records held by Middletown or Connecticut offices are outside our control. The Connecticut Freedom of Information Act, Conn. Gen. Stat. §§ 1-200 through 1-242, including §§ 1-210, 1-212, and 1-206, governs applicable public-record access; Conn. Gen. Stat. § 7-51a governs vital-record access, while voter records follow §§ 9-50a, 9-50b, 9-50d, and Public Act 26-1 § 96. The federal Driver's Privacy Protection Act, 18 U.S.C. §§ 2721-2725, separately limits personal motor-vehicle information. Requests about those records belong with the custodian.

Policy Updates

Changes will be posted on this page with the revised policy. Continued use after an update indicates acceptance of the new version.
