Terms of Use

These terms apply to your use of Middletown Residents Directory. By using the pages, you accept the terms below. Do not use the service if you do not agree.

1. What Middletown Residents Directory Is

Middletown Residents Directory is a privately operated reference to public rolls, record indexes, and historical directory collections concerning Middletown, Connecticut. It links to custodians such as the City Assessor, Town Clerk, Registrars, courts, and libraries, but it does not host government records or belong to any office, court, or records custodian. The Middlesex County designation does not create a separate county recorder for these materials.

2. Lawful Use Rules

Use the reference only for lawful, personal research. You may not use it or anything reached through it to:

  • Stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or harm another person
  • Locate a person protected by a restraining or protective order
  • Commit fraud, identity theft, or another unlawful act
  • Make an FCRA-regulated decision involving credit, employment, tenant screening, or insurance
  • Scrape, reproduce, or republish the pages at scale
  • Disrupt the service or attempt to defeat its security

3. No Consumer Reporting Agency Status

Middletown Residents Directory is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. § 1681 et seq. Material on these pages, and results from a linked search tool, are not consumer reports and may not be used to decide eligibility for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or another purpose covered by the FCRA.

4. External Portals and Services

Government portals, library collections, and third-party services, including sponsored search tools, set their own terms and privacy practices. Middletown Residents Directory does not control their content, availability, charges, or handling of submitted information.

5. No Warranties

The service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind. No promise is made that a page or linked portal is accurate, complete, current, available, or able to return a correct result.

6. Liability Limits

To the fullest extent allowed by law, the operators are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from use of the service or an outside resource, including an action taken from a record located through it.

7. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold the operators harmless from a claim or demand, including reasonable attorneys' fees, that results from your misuse of the service or breach of these terms.

8. Intellectual Property

The original writing, design, logo, and layout are protected by copyright. Linking to a page and quoting a short attributed excerpt is welcome. Republishing full pages or copying the material systematically is not permitted.

9. Changes to These Terms

A revised version may be posted here at any time. Continued use after a revision means that you accept the updated terms.

10. Access Restrictions

Access may be blocked or limited for a user who violates these terms or abuses the service. This may happen at the operators' discretion and without advance notice.

11. Connecticut Law and Record Rules

These terms are governed by Connecticut law, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. When a page points to a public record, the Connecticut Freedom of Information Act, Conn. Gen. Stat. §§ 1-200 through 1-242, including §§ 1-210, 1-212, and 1-206, applies only where the record is subject to that act. Record-specific limits still control, including Conn. Gen. Stat. § 7-51a for vital records; §§ 9-50a, 9-50b, and 9-50d and Public Act 26-1 § 96 for voter records; chapter 743jj for covered consumer data; and the Driver's Privacy Protection Act, 18 U.S.C. §§ 2721-2725, for protected motor-vehicle information.

12. Severability

If a court finds one part of these terms unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect.
